What is Face Yoga?

Face Yoga, often referred to as facial exercises or facial yoga, is a natural and non-invasive method aimed at toning and sculpting the muscles in your face. By incorporating a series of facial exercises, stretches, and massages into your routine, you stimulate blood flow, promote collagen production, and enhance the overall health and appearance of your skin.

What do we need for a Face Yoga class ?

For a rejuvenating and effective Face Yoga class, a few essentials can make all the difference in enhancing your experience.

  • Firstly, a nourishing face oil is key to ensuring smooth movements and preventing any unnecessary friction on your skin. Choose an oil rich in natural ingredients that suits your skin type to provide an extra layer of hydration during your practice. We prefer to use oil than cream in face yoga.

  • Next, your hands become your most valuable tools during Face Yoga. Ensure they are clean and well-moisturized to glide smoothly over your face during exercises. Your touch should be gentle yet firm, promoting blood circulation and stimulating facial muscles for optimal results.

  • Creating a comfortable space is equally important. Consider using a bolster or cushion to sit on during your Face Yoga class. This not only elevates your sitting position, providing better visibility and posture, but it also promotes relaxation and stability throughout the session.

What do we do during a Face Yoga Class ?

If you are curious to know what we do during a Face Yoga class, here are some explanations of what you can expect during the classes I facilitate:

  • We use our hands and facial expressions to tone, lift and smooth the skin. We gently work on the 3 layers of the skin: the epidermis, the dermis and the hypodermis.
  • By placing intention in our gesture we nourish and soften the skin. The face yoga class starts with an intention setting, a meditation or a breathing exercise to open the space, then we place the oil on our face and introduce some movement from the thymus area to the top of the head.
  • The idea with the variety of techniques that we use: tapping, lifting, acupressure or smoothing; is to activate the skin and bring the collagen and the elastin back to the surface to rejuvenate the skin, you won’t believe how relaxed you will feel when it’s over!
