Introduction to cold spoon

Hello Beautiful People,

I wanted to send you a long note today about a very special ritual that I add sometimes to my face yoga practice. To find my balance and feel truly grounded, I have returned to a very simple practice using things you already have in your kitchen: two large tablespoons and two small teaspoons.

Sometimes, we stop our practice because we think we don’t have the “right” equipment. We see beautiful Gua Sha stones or face yoga rollers on social media, and we think, “I cannot practice today because I don’t have those tools.” We use this as an excuse to stay in our thoughts and forget our bodies.

But the truth is, your beauty and your calm do not depend on a store-bought tool. When you feel “insaisissable” or a bit lost, you don’t need to wait for a delivery or spend money. You only need to look in your kitchen drawer. A simple spoon is a perfect tool for your skin.

By using a spoon, you remove the “flou” of excuses. You show yourself that you have everything you need to be grounded right now. The spoon is solid, it is cold, and it works perfectly with your natural oil. Don’t let the lack of professional equipment stop you. Your practice is about the movement and the feeling, not the price of the tool. Use what you have, and start where you are.

The art of “Spoon Face Yoga” is a beautiful way to connect your mind to your body. Before you begin, you must prepare your tools. Take a bowl and fill it with cold water and ice cubes. Place your spoons inside to let them get very cold. While they are chilling, take a moment for yourself. Apply a natural face oil or a rich cream to your skin. This is the most important step because the oil allows the metal to glide smoothly. Without oil, you might pull your skin, which we want to avoid.

Start by using your fingers. Perform the movements you already know, warming up your muscles with your hands. Feel the heat of your skin. But then, it is time to introduce the element of cold. The cold acts as a wake-up call for your circulation. It tightens your pores and helps move away the “puffiness” we often feel in the morning.

Take the large spoons first. These are your tools for the bigger parts of your face. Use the back of the cold spoons and start at your neck. Stroke downward from your ears to your collarbones. This opens the “drains” of the face. Next, move to your jawline. Use the edge of the large spoons to slide from the center of your chin out toward your ears. If you feel tension or stress, let the cold metal melt it away. Finally, use the large spoons to sweep from the sides of your nose up toward your temples, giving your cheeks a natural lift.

Now, switch to the small spoons. These are for the detail work. Use them to trace the area around your mouth and the sides of your nose. Then, move to your eyes and forehead. Use the small spoons to gently trace your eyebrows. This releases the stress in your “frontalise” muscle. You can also press the cold “bowl” of the small spoon against the inner corners of your eyes to feel instantly refreshed.

The most important part of this practice is not just the movement, but the presence. As the cold metal touches your skin, try to put precise words on what you feel. Don’t stay in silence. Tell yourself that you are calm, you are present, and you are taking care of your own well-being. By using your voice to define your feelings, you move from a state of “blur” or confusion into a state of structure.

It takes only a few minutes, but using these two sizes of spoons with the ice water creates a rhythm that stays with you all day. It is a way to define yourself through a physical act. I hope you take this time for yourselves tomorrow morning. Notice the cold, notice the glide of the oil, and notice how your mind becomes quiet when you focus on your face.

I am looking forward to hearing how this simple kitchen ritual works for you.

With love and light,

Joie
